But you can lose the charm if you don’t keep it clean regularly… Leather does need some maintenance for its shine and durability. How To Clean Leather Couches?

Before starting, it is crucial to know which leather is used for your couch.

Pigmented Leather
This leather type is known as the most durable leather. It has a polymer coating that provides resistance against scratches and stains.

Aniline Leather
This sort of leather is dyed and doesn’t have any protective coating, making it really soft.

Semi-Aniline Leather
This leather offers some resilience against spills and stains as it has a light protective coating. 

Regular cleaning process 

Now, it doesn’t matter which type of leather you’ve got to clean; you can simply clean any sort with home remedies. First, clean off the dust and spills with any simple ragcloth. Next, you can clean with a solution made at home by mixing vinegar with water in a bowl, but keep the proportions in 50/50. Use the solution to clean your couch with a microfiber cloth in a circular motion, rinse, and repeat the process till the whole couch is done.

Things to look out for before you start cleaning your leather couch:
Before you start the cleaning process, you should read the manual book of the sofa and check which sort of cleaning process you should carry out, and also keep these things checked before cleaning. 

  • Avoid using substances on your leather couch such as alcohol, ammonia, leather shoe polish, or products with bleach. These types of chemicals are totally not meant for cleaning leather couches and can damage your leather couch!
  • Don’t use too much water. It can cause stains, and it is advisable to use damp clothes instead of direct water.

What you’ll need

  • Distilled water
  • Liquid soap
  • Microfiber cloths

Process: Firstly, you might want to clear your leather couch with dust by vacuuming. Remove all the crumbs and debris from the couch’s surface, and then use the microfiber cloth to clean them off completely. Remove the cushions, and if your couch reclines back, recline it back to the couch to clean properly. Then clean the mixture of water and soap in the circulation process, and then finally wipe it down with distilled water with a damp cloth and clear the leftover soap liquid. 

Cleaning with Vinegar 

In case you can’t get your hands directly on a leather cleaner, you can clean your leather couch with vinegar.
